We also supply a comprehensive range of trackwork products, including reinforcement bars, joint and splice bars, base plates, and U69 guard bars, all produced with a focus on quality, performance, and on-time delivery.

As an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer, we continuously invest in expanding our manufacturing capabilities and improving production efficiencies to better serve our customers and meet evolving market demands.

Innovative steel products, dynamic markets

Founded in 1907, and acquired in 2006, SWVA‘s broad range of carbon steel long products includes custom fabricated and finished components that are laced directly into customer assembly operations. Our unique blend of capabilities, backed by the commitment of talented people, powers our ongoing support of such a wide assortment of industrial end markets. Our long products can be shipped by truck, rail, or barge.

Truck Trailer Market

For OEM truck trailer and truck body manufacturers, we produce high-strength, lightweight I-beam crossmembers engineered to support efficient, repeatable production and superior in-service performance. Crossmembers are critical, load-bearing components that support the trailer or truck body floor, and OEMs demand materials that balance strength, weight reduction, and consistency. Our crossmembers are designed to help OEMs maximize payload capacity, improve fuel efficiency, and maintain structural integrity across platforms.

Key advantages for OEMs include:

  • Design flexibility with multiple available heights and section weights to support different models and applications
  • OEM-specific customization, including precise cut lengths, welded end clips, hole patterns, and coatings—reducing downstream fabrication and assembly time
  • High-strength material options, with standard grades of 60 KSI and 80 KSI minimum yield, supporting lighter designs without sacrificing performance
  • Production-ready coatings, including painted, waxed, and galvanized finishes, to meet corrosion protection and handling requirements
  • Reliable supply and consistency, helping OEMs maintain quality standards, production schedules, and long-term platform stability
Industrial Truck

We manufacture precision-rolled special shapes used as mast sections and hanger bars for multiple classes of industrial lift trucks. These components are critical to safe, efficient lifting performance, especially under full load and extended reach conditions.

  • Mast assemblies are produced using special channels combined with I-beams, J-bars, and offset J-bars, engineered for strength and durability
  • Tight tolerances and exceptional straightness ensure smooth operation, accurate load handling, and long service life
  • We also supply custom fork hanger bars, designed to meet the industry’s strict surface finish and dimensional requirements for reliable fork attachment and performance
Rail and Track

As a leading supplier of hot-rolled rail and track products, we support a wide range of rail applications with consistent quality and dependable supply.

  • Product offerings include 30#, 40#, 60#, and 85# ASCE rail, D-bars, 84# and 74# conductor/third rail, joint and splice bars, flat bars in multiple sizes, U69 (UIC33/33C1) guard bars, and various mine ties
  • Value-added services, including cut-to-length and punching, help reduce customer processing time and simplify installation
Guardrail

We produce structural steel beams used as guardrail posts for the highway safety industry. These posts form the foundation of roadside barrier systems and must meet demanding strength and durability requirements.

  • Manufactured in ASTM A36, A36/A992 (restricted chemistry for galvanizing), and A588 grades
  • Available in 6" wide flange beams and 3" and 4" S-beam sizes, providing proven performance in standard guardrail installations
Merchant Beams and Channels

Our Huntington facility also produces a full range of standard structural beams and channels designed to meet the needs of OEMs, steel service centers, and distributors. Our products are used across a wide variety of structural and industrial applications where consistency, availability, and performance matter.

  • Product offerings include standard C channels, MC channels, S beams, MH beams, and wide-flange (W) beams
  • Standard lengths of 20’, 40’, and 50’ with additional lengths available upon request
  • Standard grades include ASTM A36, A572, A529, A588, high-carbon grades, and ABS-certified grades, supporting a broad range of design and compliance requirements
Off-Highway

At Huntington, we also design and manufacture special steel sections used in heavy-equipment frames for off-highway applications. These components are engineered to deliver the high strength, stiffness, and impact resistance required to perform in demanding environments and rugged operating conditions.

For off-highway and heavy-equipment manufacturers, we design and roll custom steel sections used in the fabrication of machine frames and structural components. These applications demand materials that perform under high loads, repeated stress, and harsh operating environments.

Our off-highway sections are engineered to provide:

  • High strength and stiffness to support heavy loads and maintain structural integrity
  • Impact resistance and durability to withstand shock loading and rough terrain
  • Dimensional consistency to support automated fabrication and repeatable assembly
Solar

We support the rapidly growing renewable energy market by supplying structural steel beams for solar farm mounting systems. While solar technologies vary, every installation relies on a robust support structure engineered for long-term performance.

  • Beam selection is based on project-specific engineering requirements, including wind loads, snow loads, soil conditions, seismic considerations, and site topography
  • Typical products include 6" and 8" wide-flange beams, optimized for strength, stability, and ease of installation
  • Beams can be cut to length, fabricated, and galvanized, delivering ready-to-install components that reduce field labor and installation time
  • Fabrication and galvanizing services are performed through our facility in Wurtland, Kentucky, ensuring quality control and schedule reliability
Steel Customization

For customers with unique production or performance requirements, we custom manufacture special steel sections. This includes hot-rolled bars and non-standard shapes with tailored geometries, chemistries, and tolerance profiles.

By working closely with customers to fully understand the application, loading conditions, and production environment, we develop custom roll designs that:

  • Improve part performance and consistency
  • Reduce downstream fabrication steps
  • Lower total cost per unit over high-volume, repetitive production runs

Custom sections are especially well-suited for continuous volume programs where repeatability and efficiency are critical.
